A-Z of Me

A-Z of Me
Thanks to Michelle of Old Fashioned Mummy who tagged me in this meme from Real Housewife of Suffolk.
Hope you enjoy this insight into me. Michelle has tagged most of our friends – I just pass this on to anyone I know who has a blog and is interested – I’d love you to leave a comment back to your blog if you do decide to take part.
ANORAK…Do you have a sad side?
Um, no! My collection of Harry Potter Memorabilia would not classify itself as sad in any way.

BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change?
As with most girls I would like to be a lot slimmer than I am. I also have a scar on my forehead that I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t there but I have got used to that now.

CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why?
Jensen Ackles as he has beautifully kissable lips, eyes that you can fall into and he is generally lush.

DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?
It was on Aug 24th 2009 and was just ‘Welcome to my blog’. I started the blog to take my writing seriously – still haven’t quite gotten around to that!

ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret?
Hmmm – not having finished a novel…still.

FUNNY – who’s making you laugh?
Sadly despite all attempts not to I still can’t help laughing at my Dad’s awful jokes.
Other than that, finding Miranda, Sarah Millican and Michael McIntyre funny too.

GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?
Like Michelle the sad answer would be on paying off a bit of the mortgage.
Frivolous answer – on a trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (oops – I may have lied on A!)

HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination?
I’m not that well travelled tbh and tend to forget most things. But I have really enjoyed both New Zealand and Italy and Florida.

IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit?
I am almost certain I have many annoying habits but the one that seems to get commented on most is my nose blowing!

JOKER…Whats your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh everytime you hear it}?
Hmmmm. Not really a joke but a funny scene in the film Idle Hands where Seth Green holding an electric carving knife says ‘Look at me I’m Leatherface’ and pulls the knife out of the socket – not sure why but I find it entertaining!

KENNEL… Do you have any pets?
No pets. I have had a hamster in the past called Billy Dexter and occasionally have cuddles with the neighbour’s kitten though haven’t seen him for a couple of weeks now. Would like a dog at some point when I can give it the time it needs.

LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?
Single. Looking to change that as soon as I find the right chap.

MEAL… Whats your ultimate starter, main and dessert?
Starter – TGI Friday’s Mushroom Alfredo Garlic mushrooms with Garlic bread – what’s not to love!
Fresh button mushrooms sautéed in garlic butter and served in a creamy spinach Alfredo sauce. Sprinkled with Regato cheese and served with warm toasted garlic ciabatta (taken from TGI Friday’s website)
Main – My sister and my homemade tortilla pizzas with sundried tomato pesto, mushrooms, green peppers and cheeeesssseee (or homemade Aubergine cannelloni)
Dessert – Gooey Chocolate Brownie with mint choc chip Ice-cream from The Antelope in Poole

(If all from same place – Mak’s Garden Chinese – selection of yummy veggie starters, Sea Spicy beancurd and Jasmine Tea for pud – yum – they do takeaway too – minus the tea).

NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?
I’m a family girl so I reckon in North Wales on Christmas Day at the dinner table with my Mum, Dad, Sister, Nainy, Taidy, Uncle Ian and Auntie Lynda

OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time?
Sleep, Watch TV/Films, Read, Write, See Family/Friends. Not enough of any of these! (Perhaps a bit too much Social Media engagement).

PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of?
For some reason I felt very proud of my Open University Graduation Day – it took a number of years to get that degree, I went through a lot personally on the way to getting it and kept going despite it not being something I had to do. I was soooooo happy to get a First.

QUEASY …What turns your stomach?
The smell of coffee early in the morning – I can cope with it at other times and even drink the stuff but not at that time. Reading in the car.

RELAX…How do you relax?
Relax – what’s that then? I’m probably most relaxed when reading I reckon.

SONG…Whats your favourite song of all time?
Tough question – I’m going to go for Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi but I’ll change my mind each time you ask me I’m sure.

TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?
I’m struggling with this one as everything I’ve been through has made me who I am today so I’m sure there are a few things I would have preferred not to have done/happened but I wonder which moment would be the one I would do differently. Maybe if there is a moment that would have led me to my soulmate quicker.

UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?
I tend to waffle on about most aspects of my life to someone or another so finding this one difficult. As I’ve not told anyone yet – I have just ordered Bruno Mar’s album!! Sorry nothing too juicy there.

VOCAL…. Who is your favourite artist?
I like too many to pick just one. But the one I’ve been listening to most recently is Carrie Underwood.

WORK….. What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?
Full time writer with a lovely book deal. Sadly no I’m not doing that now. Currently lecturing in Occupational Therapy which is a fair substitute – keeps me busy at least.

XRAY…Any broken bones?
Yes – fractured right radius. I broke it in a car accident. And ouch that was very very painful. Have pins and plates in still, a nice scar and the occasional swelling to irritate.

YIKES…What’s been your most embarrassing moment?
Vastly too many to mention I suspect. Main ones are: dressing into lifeboat outfit at a fun day in 17 secs but then falling backwards as soon as the chaps let go of me. Clapping myself at OU graduation – though I did post that video online.
ZOO…. If you were an animal, which one would you be?
After spending the day at Monkey World today it would have to be some type of primate. I think a Mountain Gorilla they seem to be pretty intelligent and chilled a lot of the time.

It's All About Me

It’s All About Me

Thanks to Stacey over at It Takes a Woman for tagging me and challenging me to do this – please see her post for details on where the challenge originated.

Which living person do you most admire, and why? J.K. Rowling – see my H is for…post. I would so dearly love to create a world so fully realised as she has.

When were you happiest? This is going to sound really bad but according to my sister I have been happiest during a couple of periods where I had extended time off work sick (once following a car accident and once with a major case of overactive thyroid). It’s not even that I didn’t like either of the jobs I was in at the time, and I was actually sick, but just that I like having time to myself more. I’ve reduced my hours at work since and I really love having Fridays off – I just need to start to be more productive with my writing on them.

What was your most embarrassing moment? When I was on holiday in New Zealand in 2001 we went swimming with wild dolphins. Being wild they swam off pretty quickly and instead of getting everyone back on deck we got into the boom netting of the boat and raced after them. As we were whooshing along I realised that my bosoms had slipped out of my swimming costume and were on display so I hooked my arm over the netting to replace them. As well as the mortification of this I ended up with the most sever sunburn I’ve ever had and a rope burn on my underarm. I couldn’t get contacts in either so I never even really saw the dolphins.

Aside from property, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought? My car, a lovely silver Ford Fiesta called Luna bought using the scrappage scheme. Other than that possible by iPad.

What is your most treasured possession? A cuddly toy I’ve had since I was one – Sultan.

Where would you like to live? I love Poole and where I live now. I’m a homebody and it took a lot of persuasion to get me to move out of my parents after uni so I think it will take me lots to move out of my current house. I currently share with my sister but as she’s loved up I’m not quite sure what will happen 😦

What’s your favourite smell? Cadbury’s chocolate, especially after it has been melted in the microwave.

Who would play you in the film of your life? This was a hard one for me and what put me off posting this before but I was watching Bones earlier and I think Emily Deschanel would be a good choice, mainly because she is very good at being a geek and laughing at nerdy jokes.

What is your favourite book? Harry Potter 1-7 (Duh) and The Stand.

What is your most unappealing habit? Well I have recently been reminded that an annoying me-ism is my nose blowing (which has been atrocious today despite me remembering to take my allergy meds) – accompanying that is my disgusting habit of throwing tissues towards the bin and then having a little pile to collect and deposit due to my very poor aim.

What would be your fancy dress costume of choice? I love my Halloween costume which you can see me in elsewhere on the blog. I also once dressed up as Buffy as Red Riding Hood from a Halloween episode of Buffy and The Statue of Liberty and Santa stuck up a chimney (I kind of like dressing up).

What is your earliest memory? I don’t know – my memory is pretty bad. I know that I once left Sultan in a shop and caused my parents grief by being very upset until he was safe back in my arms – not sure I remember this though.

What is your guiltiest pleasure? Apart from chocolate watching and reading things that are targeted at people younger than me. I think I will forever be a teen at heart.

What do you owe your parents? Absolutely everything and a fair bit of money I suspect. As a lecturer seeing students struggling with finances I am so grateful to my parents for supporting me and my sister through university so that we didn’t end up with huge debt at the end.

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why? Anybody I’ve ever upset badly.

What or who is the greatest love of your life? My family – all of them.

What does love feel like? Being tucked up in a clean bed with no-where to be.

What was the best kiss of your life? I’m sincerely hoping I haven’t had it yet.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? somewhen, probably, take care, If the apocalypse comes…beep me. I’m sure there are others – anyone???

What is the worst job you’ve done? Working in a factory in the uni holidays sticking balloons and things on kids magazines. Pretty good pay but mind numbingly boring, I need a bit of mental challenge and there were probably a lot of kids with wonkily stuck on balloons.

If you could edit your past, what would you change? Editing isn’t one of my most refined talents. I guess there are a few things I might have preferred not to have happened (see next answer) but then I wouldn’t be who I am if I edited anything, would I?

What is the closest you’ve come to death? I was a front seat passenger in a head on car crash with two motorbikes. I did think I might die but I don’t think I was ever in real danger, just frightened, especially going under anaesthetic for the first time.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Again this is one that I hope is to come shortly. I wrote 50,000 words of a novel in November and I plan to add another 80.000 in the next few months. Other than that I am proud of all the study I have completed.

When did you last cry, and why? A few hours ago because of the thought of having to move. I don’t cope well with change generally but feel bad that I might make others feel bad by getting upset.

How do you relax? Mostly by spending time alone, reading, watching TV, writing, sleeping.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life? Not feeling so tired all the time.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you? I still think I’m learning to be honest, more recently that life is too short and you need to be kind to yourself. I’m still working on implementing that lesson.

Hope that hasn’t been too scary an insight into me.

If you fancy having a go yourself please do – come back and leave me a link to your post if you do though.
