Y is for… Your Favourites

I couldn’t find any Supernatural, Sci-Fi or Fantasy shows beginning with Y (that I’ve seen) so I thought that for today I’d leave it up to you to share your favourites.

It can be shows I’ve already mentioned or ones you think I’ve omitted.

Please comment with the title and your reasons for recommending – a must see episode, a ballsy character, the writing or anything else.

Thanks for taking part – come back tomorrow for the final post – on zombies!

  1. Doctor Who. This has been my favorite sci-fi show for as long as I remember. Why? The concept is so compelling, the mystery around the character of the Doctor, and the numerous what-if scenarios explored. With a show about an alien who travels around time and space, the possibilities are endless, which makes for a wide variety of stories.

While not all episodes are equally good, there have been some outstanding examples of writing (and acting). Particular episodes that spring to mind: “The Robots of Death” from 1977, “The Caves of Androzani” from 1984, “Blink” from 2007, “Midnight” from 2008, and “Vincent and the Doctor” from 2010.

    • I do like the Doctor too – I only vaguely remember older episodes when Ace was the sidekick and the 1977 episode was definitely before my time. I agree with you about Blink (those Angels are creepy as) and the Vincent and the Doctor one. I knew exactly which episodes they were when you mentioned them.

  2. I recent favorite book was Shantaram at nearly 1000 pages. It’s based on the life of a man who was on Australia’s most wanted list. Very, very good.

As far as television, with basketball playoffs underway, my husband and son have monopolized the remote. 🙂 So, I’m between news and sports.

    • Not heard of the book – but it sounds like an undertaking.
Sorry to hear about the remote situation, hope you get some control back soon (one of the joys of being single is that I get to control what I watch and when).
